Job Description

We are seeking an experienced QA Manager / QA Lead with strong expertise in software quality engineering, automation strategy, Agile QA practices, DevOps CI/CD integration, compliance-driven testing, and cross-functional team leadership.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading QA teams, building automation-first testing practices, implementing scalable test frameworks, improving regression coverage, reducing manual testing dependency, and ensuring zero-defect or low-defect production releases.

This role requires strong hands-on and leadership experience across UI testing, API testing, backend validation, database testing, accessibility testing, test data management, defect management, release governance, and quality process improvement.

The QA Manager will work closely with product managers, developers, DevOps engineers, business analysts, compliance stakeholders, and client teams to define QA strategy, review requirements, identify risks, establish test plans, manage sprint-level testing, drive automation adoption, and ensure release quality across enterprise-grade applications.

7. Key Responsibilities

A. QA Strategy & Leadership

  • Own and drive the overall QA strategy across product development and release cycles.
  • Define and implement end-to-end QA processes aligned with SDLC, STLC, Agile, and DevOps practices.
  • Establish quality gates, test governance models, release readiness criteria, and defect prevention strategies.
  • Lead QA planning for functional, regression, integration, API, database, accessibility, UAT, and automation testing.
  • Identify process gaps and implement continuous improvement initiatives across QA workflows.
  • Promote a quality-first culture across engineering, product, and business teams.
  • Ensure testing activities are aligned with business goals, product priorities, and release timelines.

B. Test Automation & Framework Development

  • Design, build, and scale automation frameworks for UI, API, backend, and regression testing.
  • Lead automation-first QA transformation to reduce manual testing dependency.
  • Develop maintainable, reusable, and scalable automation assets using tools such as Selenium, Karate Labs, Katalon Studio, Tosca, and Jenkins.
  • Integrate automation test suites into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps.
  • Improve regression test coverage and optimize test execution cycles.
  • Define automation coding standards, framework architecture, reusable components, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Evaluate automation tools and recommend fit-for-purpose solutions based on product and organizational needs.

C. API, Backend & Database Testing

  • Lead API testing strategy for microservices, backend systems, and integration layers.
  • Validate API functionality, response structure, business rules, authentication, authorization, and error handling.
  • Perform backend validation using SQL and database queries.
  • Ensure data integrity, data accuracy, and transactional consistency across systems.
  • Use Postman, Karate API, SQL, Putty, WinSCP, and related tools for backend and API validation.
  • Collaborate with developers and architects to validate service-level behavior and integration dependencies.

D. UI/UX & Functional Testing

  • Lead functional testing across web-based enterprise applications.
  • Validate UI workflows, user journeys, usability, layout behavior, form validations, and business rules.
  • Ensure UI/UX consistency across browsers, devices, and user roles.
  • Create and review detailed test scenarios, test cases, test data, and execution plans.
  • Manage smoke, sanity, regression, exploratory, end-to-end, and acceptance testing.
  • Ensure application workflows meet product requirements and business expectations.

E. Accessibility & Compliance Testing

  • Drive accessibility testing aligned with WCAG 2.2, ADA, Section 508, and VPAT expectations.
  • Validate accessibility compliance for enterprise and regulated applications.

  • Ensure testing practices consider standards such as HIPAA/HITECH, HITRUST, SOC 2, GLBA, SOX, FCRA, PCI DSS, CCPA, CPRA, COPPA, ISO/IEC 27001, and NIST CSF where applicable.
  • Collaborate with product, design, compliance, and engineering teams to resolve accessibility and regulatory gaps.

F. Agile QA Delivery & Release Management

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and defect triage.
  • Define sprint-level QA scope, test estimates, dependencies, and risks.
  • Track QA progress, test execution status, defect trends, and release readiness.
  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, and DevOps teams.
  • Support release planning, production readiness reviews, and go/no-go decisions.
  • Ensure high-quality delivery within fast-paced Agile environments.

G. Defect Management & Risk Mitigation

  • Lead defect triage meetings and drive timely resolution of critical issues.
  • Manage defect lifecycle using tools such as JIRA, HP ALM, QTest, and TestRail.
  • Analyze defect trends, root causes, leakage patterns, and quality risks.
  • Prioritize defects based on severity, priority, business impact, and release timelines.
  • Communicate risks, blockers, and quality metrics to stakeholders.
  • Implement preventive actions to reduce recurring defects.

H. Team Management & Mentorship

  • Lead, mentor, and upskill QA engineers, automation engineers, and junior testers.
  • Provide technical guidance on test design, automation development, API testing, and QA best practices.
